How to Apply Eyeshadow to Hooded Eyes for a glamorous look?

If there’s one thing we can all agree on in the beauty community is how challenging it can be when it comes to applying makeup for your particular eye shape especially when it comes to hooded eyes! Some of us were blessed with them so we know how frustrating it is to apply a cute eyeshadow look only for it to disappear as soon as you look straight ahead. Well, the days of struggling are over because these eye-popping' makeup tips for hooded eyes will make it easy to apply any kind of look to those gorgeous eyes!

Hooded eyes are known for the smaller lid space caused by skin that covers most of your eyelid, but with these tips and tricks, you can accentuate your lid and hide the hooded areas. We promise these will work like magic! Check out the following steps-

  1. Don’t Overextend Your Brows

Okay, we know this isn’t eyeshadow but hear us out! When you’re filling in your brows, it’s important to make sure you’re not elongating your brows and bringing the tail lower than the head of your brows. When you overextend your brows that way, your eyes will appear droopy and tired.

  1. Prime Your Eyes

When you have hooded eyes, your eyeshadow will tend to transfer more due to the deep crease in the hooded area. Thankfully, this is a super easy fix! Avoid your eyeshadow from transferring by priming your eyes with your face crease-less primer and setting it with some powder for extra staying power!

  1. Create a Fake Crease

To enhance hooded eyes, apply your transition shades slightly above your crease to create a fake crease. This will create the illusion of more brilliant eyes and push back the hooded areas while creating the illusion of more lid space!

  1. Blend Upwards

When you’re blending any shadows on your outer corner, blend them upwards and outwards. Blending your eyeshadow this way will make your eyes look lifted and more open!

  1. Avoid Dark Shadows on Your Eyelids

Another great tip for applying eyeshadow on hooded eyes is to keep all the dark and deeper shadows away from your eyelids because this will create a smaller lid space. Instead, focus those shades on your outer corners and keep the lighter shades on your inner corners and lids to illuminate those areas (this applies to your lash line, too).

  1. Highlight your Brow Bone, Only!

When you bring your highlight too low, instead of keeping it right on your brow bone, you’re accentuating the hood on your eyes! Keep the highlight right underneath your brows to avoid emphasizing the hooded areas of your eyes.

  1. Thin Eyeliner is your BFF

Since hooded eyes have little to no lid space, don’t take up the entire space with thick liner! Keep your eyeliner super thin to keep your eyes wide and defined. If you want brighter eyes, you can also apply nude or white eyeliner to your waterline!

Hooded eyes are beautiful, just like every eye shape, but working with them (especially if you’re new to makeup) can be a lil’ tough, so we really hope these tips on how to apply eyeshadow to hooded eyes help you out! Now you can create the perfect eye makeup for hooded eyes (Yaass!).
